Make Home a Safer Place with ConnectSense

Advancements in smart home technology have equipped homeowners with the tools necessary to create home environments that are free from danger. Establishing a safe environment to protect loved ones and valuable possessions is of the utmost importance. ConnectSense is dedicated to enabling consumers with the ability to build completely customized systems for monitoring and controlling their homes. Installing a ConnectSense Smart Outlet or sensor within a home is a great way for homeowners to create a reliable environment that is optimized for their needs.

The Smart Outlet is typically associated as being a mechanism for home automation, but the power it provides for home security is often overlooked. Any home that looks unoccupied for long periods of time can be at risk for a security breach. This outlet provides users with the ability to create the appearance that someone is at home, at any time, using remote access and automation controls. An example would be if a resident is continuously arriving home late at night. The outlet can be used to turn on the lights and TV when it starts to get dark, which will make the house look as if someone is there. If a homeowner goes on vacation, the smart outlet can be used to turn lights and other devices on/off periodically throughout the day and night. The Smart Outlet can assist in establishing a safe household through these effective, security-oriented applications.

The Wireless Motion Sensor andWireless Security System offer more traditional methods for securing a home in comparison to the Smart Outlet. The Motion Sensor allows homeowners to monitor any motion in their home, garage, or shed to ensure their property is protected when they are away or sleeping. The Security System allows any door, window, or cabinet to be monitored. This means that the user will be notified the second any door or window is opened, allowing for the immediate prevention of a potential problem at home. These devices are economical solutions for monitoring and securing a home. The sensors are extremely easy to setup and offer a feeling of comfort.

Even though it is extremely important to protect households from theft, there are some additional ways to make a home much safer. Implementing some of the other powerful sensors, such as the Water Sensor or the Dry Contact Sensor, homeowners will have much more protection from unpredictable and natural sources of danger. The assortment of sensors allows users to create a home monitoring network that is optimized for their needs. There is no need to spend a lot of money on a high-price security system when these ConnectSense products offer the same amount of protection for a fraction of the cost. Any home can be a safe home with the installation of a few ConnectSense sensors or Smart Outlets.

Why DIY Home Security Makes Sense

Installing a security system is often portrayed as a daunting and expensive task, but the Internet of Things (IoT) is changing that. Smart home technology enables individuals to establish a network of security devices that are controllable and affordable. Installing security systems usually require hired professionals to install them, which is often costly and intimidating. DIY security installation provides home owners with the power to customize security systems easily to fit their respective needs.

The most beneficial aspect of DIY installation is that it is extremely cheap in comparison to hiring professionals. Smart home security devices allow users to purchase devices as they see fit. This means that a security system can start with only a few devices and be built up overtime, allowing individuals to build a secure home on a budget. With a professional installation, the user is required to purchase an expensive and complex system, which they might not even need. In addition to this, professional systems usually have very expensive installation fees. IoT devices are very inexpensive; they can be purchased and installed easily at without complicated procedures.

With internet-enabled security devices, the user has complete control over their security system while they are at home as well as when they are away, which is a feature that professional systems don’t offer. Another DIY benefit is the ability to completely customize and alter security networks at the user’s convenience. Devices can be added or removed from a security system with ease. Home owners also have the ability to reinstall any security device in an alternative location within their home environment. Professionally installed systems simply do not offer this luxury. Once a system is installed in this fashion, there are essentially no customization options. This is especially inconvenient if someone decides to move into a new house or wants to move their security system to a new area in their home. DIY security systems can be transported to various environments and can be installed with minimum difficulty.

When it comes to personally installing a security system, there are some extremely powerful tools to assist in building an integrated network of IoT devices. The ConnectSense Wireless Security System and Wireless Motion Sensor are very effective in keeping a home secure. The Security Sensor can monitor doors, windows, cabinets, and more in any home. The Motion Sensor is able to track any motion that occurs within a given environment. Each of these sensors is able to notify home owners if there are any changes in their environment before it becomes a problem. These ConnectSense sensors are some of the many robust smart devices that can be utilized to monitor a home.

Establishing a smart home ecosystem can also be done with ease using Apple HomeKit, which is a very reliable and efficient DIY smart home security software. HomeKit equips homeowners with the ability to create a dynamic and affordable network of security-based devices. There are many industry leading products that are compatible with Apple’s innovative software. HomeKit assists home owners in creating a secure environment in a way that is both convenient and accessible.

It is often said that if one wants something done right, they should do it themselves. This is precisely the case regarding the creation of in-home security systems. DIY home security is significantly cheaper than professional installations and the ability to fully optimize a network of devices to fit a specific home environment gives DIY installation a major advantage. The accessibility and customization of security networks created with software such as Apple HomeKit makes IoT security systems much more powerful and reliable than professional installations.

Home, Safe Home

Home is always termed as something safe and secure. Most of us spend years of our lives creating a place where we feel like we can escape from the world and rest in the company of family and friends. All our belongings and treasures pile up in troves of memories around the house, giving us a feeling of belonging and peace.

Break-ins destroy these sentiments. They make us work from the ground up. They give us the feeling of sleeping in a bugged hotel room or being betrayed by a loyal friend. Restoring the homey atmosphere takes a long time afterwards, and we never quite feel the same again.

Here at Grid Connect, we care about keeping your home your own, so that you can worry about the more important things in life. Safety and security should not be worries when our heads hit the pillow at night, and we understand that. This is why we have created an inexpensive solution to the problem with the ConnectSense Motion and Security sensors. With these tools in place, you won’t have to worry about break-ins while you’re away. Our sensors or designed to alert you via your phone call, text message, email or Twitter whenever there may be a cause for worry. Don’t let a single event break your confidence in the safety of your home.

Zombie Awareness Tips: How to survive the apocalypse with a smart home

Zombies. The walking dead returned from the grave to feast on soft buttery brains. Smart homes, a technology that allows for the automation of certain tasks such as turning on lights or changing the temperature.

What do zombies and smart homes have in common? Very little. However, when the zombie apocalypse comes and zombies eat your neighbors (sorry George!), your neighborhood’s smart home technology may not be entirely useless.

Just like in AMC’s The Walking Dead and numerous other zombie movies, should the shambling hordes come, you’ll want to do what you can to survive. According to the Zombie Research Society, May is “Zombie Awareness Month,” so SiliconAngle’s staff has worked out ways you can make smart homes work for you should the dead come knocking.

One Simple Way To Keep Your Home Safe This Summer

Good weather is on the rise and so is crime. We often get accustomed to the feelings of safety and privacy in our home. We head to work with the confidence our home and possessions are safely locked away. This is until we experience a breach in our privacy and it is already too late. It gives you a relentless sense of uncertainty and vulnerability. Earlier this spring I experienced just that.

It was a normal Tuesday morning. I woke up, got ready for work, fed and said goodbye to my puppy and kitten, locked the door and parted ways with my partner for work. Little did I know, my animals were going to witness an attempted burglary. When I got home the dog was hysterical and the door knob was crushed from someone attempting a forced entry with some kind of a wrench. We felt violated and were uneasy the next few days. Finally, we decided something needed to be done to ensure the safety of our home and pets.

When you see burglars on TV or in the movies they are always lurking in the shadows and breaking into houses in the middle of the night. In reality 65% to 75% of household robberies occur during the day when you’re at work or out and about. There was something we needed to do to be able to monitor our home while at work without having to pay an arm and a leg in monthly fees for home security. That is when we turned to the Internet of Things and installed Connect Sense security sensors and an IP camera.

With the Connect Sense security sensor we are able to set a rule to notify us via text message and email if our front door is breached during work hours. If this occurs we can pull up our camera feed and start recording while we get on the phone with the police. The notifications are convenient because we do not have to constantly check in, but we still get the peace of mind and confidence that everything is okay at home. I wish we would have installed this system earlier but we, like many others, waited until an incident had already occurred. I feel much safer knowing that I am now prepared for any potential security issues in the future.
